Brauneck in Upper Bavaria is one of the Bavarian Alps ( Bavarian foothills of the Alps ) and is an extension of the Benediktenwand. The peak height is 1555 m, the valley peak at Lenggries is 740 m (815 meters altitude). The Brauneckgebiet is fully developed by service roads and the Brauneck cable car and several lifts and because of its close proximity (60 km) to the City of Munich and the connection to the Bayerische Oberland Bahn is a popular skiing and hiking area. The mountain is also the starting point for hang gliders and paragliders, which can easily reach the top by cable car. The separate landing sites are located north ( hang gliders ) and south ( paragliders) of the parking lot of the Brauneck cable car. For the artificial snow ski slopes of a 100,000 m3 of water recapitulative storage pond was created in 2012.

The following huts, some with overnight accommodation are to be used on Brauneck: Reiseralm ( Private), Brauneck Summit House ( Section Alpine Ski Club of the German Alpine Club ), Tolz hut Quenger -Alm, Stie -Alm, Bavaria Hut, Florian hut, Kotalm and Milchhäusl that has only open in winter.
