History

The railway was built for tourism and fully privately financed. Because for the transport of goods to Braunwald existed since 1902, the cable car Ruti - Braunwald.

The construction of the railway was initiated by Albert Bebié, who won as an engineer together with his brother Friedrich Hefti, Josef Durrer. This was responsible for preparing the plans of the web and also launched the construction work. The railway construction was carried out by the contractor Hünerwadel & Toneatti. The train was two months late, opened on August 6, 1907, and initially ran only in the summer. It was not until 1928, the year-round operation was introduced.
