Bray-Dunes

Bray -Dunes ( nl. Brayduinen, vls. Bray- Duunn ) is a commune with 4637 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nord, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It belongs to the arrondissement of Dunkirk and the canton of Dunkerque -Est.

Geography

The small town is the northernmost municipality of France. It is bounded on the northwest by the North Sea and northeast Belgium. South of the widely ramified road settlement with connected suburbs, the route de Furnes, which has the status of a secondary road and is flanked by agriculture. It combines Bray- Dunes with Zuydcoote and the Belgian Adinkerke (municipality De Panne ). After Dunkirk in the West There are 15 km.

In the north the municipality district is hilly and sometimes rocky or forested. Still living quarters consist not far from the border, such as the district Charrière.

History

The village was founded in 1883 by Alphonse Bray, a shipowner from Dunkirk. At that time it was still a hamlet and Hameau de Ghyvelde was called.
