Brayden Schenn

Brayden Schenn ( born August 22, 1991 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since 2011 when the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League contract. His older brother Luke is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Brayden Schenn started his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the Saskatoon Contacs from the Junior League Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League, in which he in 41 games scored 70 points scorer in the 2006/07 season. Then the center was drafted by the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, where he was a fixture in the next three years. During this period he scored in 228 games, 298 points scorer, including 112 goals. He was not only one of the best players of his team, but the entire league. In the 2007 /08 season the junior national team was elected to the All- Rookie Team of the umbrella organization the Canadian Hockey League, also he was the rookie player with the highest scorer points ( 71) of the Western Hockey League and received the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as WHL Rookie of the Year. In the following two seasons, he was selected first team of the Eastern Conference of the Western Hockey League in the second and then first in the All-Star.

Schenns performance at junior level were recognized early on by the scouts big clubs and the NHL Entry Draft in 2009, he was selected in the first round as the fifth overall player of the Los Angeles Kings. For Californians, the Canadian was on 26 November 2009 at the age of 18 years, his NHL debut against the Vancouver Canucks. He spent the entire rest of the season but again at the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL, where he was team captain. In the Memorial Cup in 2010, he was placed with his team as host, but could not prevail against the competition in front of their home crowd.

The 2010/11 season began Schenn with the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL, but it was after eight games on their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League are submitted. While there, he scored seven points scorer, including three goals in seven games, but he managed not to enforce permanent, as he had in the defensive work weaknesses. Therefore, it was submitted in December, 2010 at the Brandon Wheat Kings Junior team to initially continue to play matches there. This transferred him after the World Cup the U20 Junior on January 10, 2011 to league rivals Saskatoon Blades.

On 23 June 2011, Schenn was transferred along with Wayne Simmonds and a second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 to the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings Mike Richards received in return.

Internationally

For Canada Schenn participated in the Under-18 World Youth Championship in 2008, and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2010 and 2011 in part. In all three tournaments he won with his team a medal at the 2008 U18 World Championship gold and the two U-20 World Cups in 2010 and 2011 the silver medal. Especially in the U20 Junior World Cup 2011, where he was one of two assistant captains Canada, Schenn could convince. With 18 scorer points, including eight goals in seven games, he has been making great distance scorer of the tournament. In addition, he was named best forward and the Most Valuable Player, and was elected to the All-Star team. Only in the final against Russia he was defeated and his team with 3:5 after the Canadians had already performed at a gate and a Torvorarbeit of Schenn 3-0.
