Break It Off is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna from her second studio album, A Girl Like Me (2006). It was written by D. Bennett, K. Ford, Sean Paul and Rihanna and produced by Don Corleon. The song, in which Sean Paul participated, was released as the fourth and final single from A Girl Like Me only in the U.S. and Canada on 14 December 2006. Rihanna sang the song live at the Rockin 'New Year 's Eve '07 TV event on 1 January 2007 at Times Square in New York City. Rihanna told in advance that she was from the chart success of her song, which still does not have a music video that impressed. In the song Rihanna sings the chorus and the verses, Sean Paul Rihanna wrote for the rest of their first two albums, many songs, but Break It Off is the first single, the Rihanna wrote itself. In 2009 she wrote the chorus from the number -one hit Run This Town with Jay -Z and Kanye West.

Break It Off Rihanna played so far on their " Rihanna: Live in Concert Tour" in 2006, as part of the preliminary program of the Pussycat Dolls on their " PCD World Tour" in 2006 and on her " Good Girl Gone Bad Tour" 2007/2008. She sang the song at New Year's Eve 2007 at the BBC Radio 1 's Big Weekend and at Live Earth.

Break It Off debuted at number eight of the American Hot Digital Songs chart, with 75,316 units sold. Thus, the single jumped into the Billboard Hot 100 from number 52 to number ten, reaching finally a week later with his ninth maximum placement.
