Break Machine

Break Machine was an American rap / hip hop ensemble of the 1980s. It consisted of the musician and rapper Keith Rodgers, the frontman of the group, as well as the producers Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo; the team behind the Village People.

Career

Rodgers was a musician and rapper and host of the radio - ending rape WHBI 105.9 in New York City. In 1981, he recorded a single with the title Searching Rap under the pseudonym ' Bon Rock' on. This brought him contact with Morali and Belolo, the French producer of the group Village People. After the extinction of the disco genre both were looking for new styles and music genres. In 1983 they published together with Fred Zarr the song Street Dance as a single, which became an international hit and one of the earliest hits from the Hip Hop area.

Street Dance reached in March 1984 # 3 on the UK charts and was ranked 39 of the best selling singles of 1984 in the UK. In France, Sweden and Norway, the song was a number -one hit. In Germany, the song was ranked 79 of the best selling singles of the year 1984. In Italy, the song reached number 11 on the most successful street dance was in Norway, where it took five weeks # 1 on the charts. In France, the song sold in 1984 over a million copies and reached number 1

The following singles Break Dance Party and Are You Ready? reached number 9 in the UK charts and 27 Their debut album, Break Machine reached number 17 of the UK album charts.
