Breheimen-Nationalpark

The Breheimen National Park (Norwegian Breheimen nasjonalpark ), is a mountain - and glacier -rich national park around the Breheimen mountain range in the Norwegian provinces of Oppland and Sogn og Fjordane. The park was established on 7 August 2009 to " this great, wild piece to protect [ ... ] nature with its representative ecosystem, and landscape [ ... ] ".

The park belongs to the municipalities Skjåk, Lom and Luster. Since the National Park to the five nature reserves Strynefjellet landskapsvernområde, Mysubytta landskapsvernområde, Høydalen landskapsvernområde, Mørkridsdalen landskapsvernområde above Vigdalen landskapsvernområde, and Høyrokampen borders nature reserve, the whole area is worth protecting 1794 km ². The park also borders on the Jostedalsbreen National Park.

Geography, Landscape & Geology

The landscape is dominated by glaciers, waterfalls, lush valleys, mountains, but also of cultural landscapes.

Heritage

In the park over 6000 -year-old evidence of human civilization as hunting bows, remains of farms and ways have been found.
