Geography

Geographical Location

Width Mountain is located in the Donau -Wald at the northeast corner of the district of Passau. The community is adjacent to Upper Austria ( Rohrbach district ) and county Freyung -Grafenau. Thus Breiteberg located in the southern Bavarian Forest, in the so-called Adalbert -Stifter- country as well as in the Wegscheider country. To Passau is 33 km, to Freyung and Rohrbach each 28 km, 20 km of forest churches and to Hauzenberg 15 km away.

History

The place in the former Bishopric of Passau fell in the secularisation of 1803 with the majority of the hochstiftischen area of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany and came to Bavaria until 1805. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Schoenberg was incorporated. On 1 April 1971 was added Gollnerberg. Gegenbach followed on 1 January 1972.

Mayor Helmut Rührl (CSU ), who was elected on 2 March 2008 unopposed with 89.25 % of votes. The turnout was 57.34 %.

Finances
