Breitenburg

Geography and transport

Width castle is located about four kilometers southeast of Itzehoe at the sturgeon; the district Nordoe located south of Itzehoe. At the Breitenburger ferry the provincial road 116 crosses the sturgeon. South of the village, the Federal Highway 23 extends from Hamburg to Itzehoe.

History

1526 acquired Johann Rantzau the Geest height by he bought the lands of the monastery Bordesholm in the parish Breiteberg at the sturgeon, which were obliterated by a flood.
