Breitenfeld on the Rittschein is a municipality with 793 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the south- east of Styria in the judicial district or county field stream Südoststeiermark. From 1 January 2015, is the framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the market town of Rieger castle and the communities Lödersdorf and Kornberg together at Rieger Castle, the new community will be called "Rieger castle ".

Geography
Geographical Location
Width field is located about 40 km east of Graz and about 9 km north-east of the district capital field creek in East Styrian Hill Country at the Rittschein.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Breitenfeld, Neustift at Breitenfeld and St. child.

There is a typical South- Styrian mild climate that is ideal for the cultivation of wine.

The council consists of nine members and is since the municipal elections 2010 mandates the following parties together:
- 6 SPÖ - represents the Mayor and Deputy Mayor
- 3 ÖVP - represents the church treasurer

Coat of arms
In a split of silver and green shield two superimposed projected Green Seeblätter in the front and a silver beard throw with a line drawn through the ring silver dew in the back field. The Seeblätter come from the coat of arms of Wildonier which applied this shield figure also founded by them in 1230 Canons Stainz, while the silver beard throw shows in the root symbol of the Lords of Stubenberg. Both the Wildonier and the room had a mountain in the municipality of Breitenfeld that time considerable manorial rights, which refer to this plate figures.
The right to bear the coat of arms municipality was awarded with effect from October 1, 1965 by the Styrian Government to the community.
Culture and sights
Among the attractions of the place include the Sanctuary of Breitenfeld and the Way of the Cross on Calvary.
Music
The Musikverein Breitenfeld has a new music school in the village square and shares this with the choir Breitenfeld.
Sports
The offer in the Width box, ranging from sports club ( football) up to two tennis clubs with a total of three tennis courts.
Education
