Breitenfeld (Leipzig)

Breitenfeld is a day for the city of Leipzig belonging village. The village lies to the north of the fair city near the old road to Landsberg. South borders of the district Gohlis to, on the west lies Lindenthal, in the east Wiederitzsch.

History

Breitenfeld 1271 is mentioned for the first time in a document, the Good Breitenfeld transferred as Margrave Dietrich of Landsberg the bishopric of Merseburg. The estate includes in addition Breitenfeld also Wiederitzsch Lindenthal.

1856, the patrimonial jurisdiction of the landlords was abolished and Breitenfeld got a council. In 1923, the town was part of the community Lindenthal, which was incorporated into Leipzig in 1999.

East of the local situation reminds the Gustav -Adolf Monument to the Battle of Breitenfeld on 7 Septemberjul. / September 17 1631greg .. It was constructed in 1831 for the 200th anniversary of the battle and carries on the east, south, west and north sides the following inscription:

The monument was donated by the landowner width fields Ferdinand Gruner and built on the site of the manor. The saying comes from Leipzig Stadtgerichtsrat Werner Konrad Ernst Heimbach. 1881 was a wrought-iron fence the monument.

In the course of the land reform in 1946, the land on which the monument stands, transferred to a fund in Gothenburg and has since been Swedish property.
