Breitenfort in Vienna is a town with 5810 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) southwest of Vienna in District Mödling in Lower Austria.

Geography

Geographical location

Breitenfort is right on the border of the city of Vienna, the Vienna woods in the valley of the rich Liesing. The community is geographically one of the largest in the district and therefore has only a population density of 197/km ². The place has great elevation changes and is 260-592 meters above sea level.

Community structure

The community is divided politically into two cadastral Breitenfort and Hochroterd. Structurally, the community is divided into three parts with width Wade Ostend directly to Vienna Kalksburg bordering, Breitenfort East and Breitenfort -West, from where it passes over the Semmering to Little Wolf ditch.

History

Breitenfort was founded relatively late and appeared in documents for the first time in 1622 as a populated area, whereas previously Breitenfort was only as field name in use. Up to the Turks in 1683 storm was located on the present-day municipality an imperial hunting lodge, which still adorns the coat of arms of the town in ruins.
