Bremm

Bremm is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Cochem. Bremm is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

Bremm is on a Moselschleife between Trier and Koblenz and is surrounded by the vineyards of the Calmont, the steepest with 378 meters height and 65 degree slope vineyard in Europe. This extends along the Moselle from Ediger -Eller to Bremm and is part of the wine region Mosel.

History

The place was inhabited in Celtic and Roman times. The oldest written mention of the village is from the year 1051, as Richeza, granddaughter of Emperor Otto II, the monastery Brauweiler gave goods in Brembe. 1097 for the first time a church in Bremm was mentioned.

The most important reason Lord was to 1802 the Augustinian convent parlors. Already in 1794 the occupation was carried out by the French revolutionary army, Bremm belonged until 1814 to the Mairie Eller in the canton of Cochem. 1815 it to the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Dating back to the 11th century church was rebuilt in 1895 and enlarged. Since 1946 Bremm is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. Bremm won in 2002 in the competition " Our village has a future," the title of " most beautiful village of Rhineland -Palatinate ."

Parish council

The local council in Bremm consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman location. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters. In the previous election in 2004, a majority vote was held.

Structures

In the St. Lawrence Church is a Baroque altar. From the former convent Klosterstuben is just a ruin yet. There are in Bremm several half-timbered houses, including the Storchenhaus - timbered house with carvings.

For several years, the via ferrata many visitors attracted by the Bremmer Calmont each year in the place.
