Brendan Hansen

Brendan Joseph Hansen ( born August 15, 1981 in Havertown, Pennsylvania) is an American swimmer who has specialized in the breaststroke.

Career

Hansen lives and trains in Austin / Texas. He studied there until 2005 at the University of Texas where he received a degree in alternative medicine.

Although Hansen at the U.S. Olympic excretion 2004, new world records over 100 m and 200 m breaststroke aufstellte, he was at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens not individual Olympic champion. He won the silver medal over 100 meters and bronze over 200m breaststroke. Gold he won instead with the 4x100m medley relay in world record time. In the swimming world championships in 2005 in Montreal Hansen became world champion over 100 m and 200 m breaststroke and the 4x100 m medley relay.

At the Olympic Trials 2008 Hansen offered a mixed performance. He could only win on the 100 m breaststroke track and solve an Olympic ticket for Beijing since he only finished fourth on 200 m breaststroke, thus qualifying did not make this track.
