Brendan Morrison

Brendan Morrison ( born August 15, 1975 in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Since January 2012, he plays for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League on the position of the center.

Career

Brendan Morrison was a total selected in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 by the New Jersey Devils as the 39th player. From 1993 to 1997, he completed a number of successful seasons for the University team from the University of Michigan, the Michigan Wolverines. In 1997 he was awarded the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is awarded to the most successful player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

His professional career began in 1997/ 98, in which he ran aground on the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. During this season in Albany, he also played eleven games for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. In the season 1998/ 99, Morrison developed a regular place in the squad of the Devils, where he played until 2000, when he was transferred together with Denis Pederson in exchange for Alexander Mogilny to the Vancouver Canucks. After the 2007/ 08 season, Morrison refused an offer to extend the contract by the Canucks, and joined as a free agent after eight years in Vancouver at the Anaheim Ducks.

27 January 2012 it transferred the Calgary Flames in exchange for defender Brian Connelly to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Morrison's most successful professional seasons were the 2001/02 season ( 23 goals and 44 Assists for 67 points ) and 2002 /03 ( 25 goals and 46 Assists for 71 points ) collected within each 82 games, respectively, the third highest scorer points of Canucks after his two partners Todd Bertuzzi storm and Markus Naslund.

Morrison had been three times in the dress of the Canadian ice hockey team in the world championships in 2000, 2004 and 2005, where it was enough for silver in 2004 for gold and 2005.

During the NHL lockout in 2004/05 he played a season for Linköpings HC in the Elitserien, the Swedish professional league.
