History

The burning mountain castle was first mentioned in the 10th century. From 1366 to 1567 the castle in a rule upper and lower Brennberg Brennberg is divided. In 1633 the castle and the monastery founded by Frauenzell last Brennberg be haunted by the Swedes. 1642 and 1689, the castle of fires is damaged. In 1818 the municipality Brennberg arises. In the 19th century the castle forfeit more and more. 1980, the remaining buildings will be secured and built a lookout tower.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Frankenberg was incorporated. Bruckbach and Mrs. cell ( with the incorporated on April 1, 1949 the rest of the former municipality Göppenbach ) were added on 1 May 1978.
