Brennus (3rd century BC)

Brennus ( gall. Brennos ) was a Celtic military leader and chieftain. It was here but probably less a historical person but rather to a Celtic / Gallic nobility.

Brennus coincided with several strains 280 BC in the Balkan peninsula and defeated in 279 BC at Delphi a Greek army. About this expedition report several ancient authors, such as Pausanias, Diodorus or Junianus Justinus.

Brennus cooperated during the campaign with another Celtic army, which was under leadership of a certain Akichorios. Macedonia and Greece were considerably weakened by decades of Diadokhian.
