Brent Severyn

Brent Severyn ( born February 22, 1966 in Vegreville, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days and from 1983 to 2001 among others for the Quebec Nordiques, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim Dallas Stars played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Brent Severyn began his career as a hockey player in Canada's top junior Western Hockey League in which he was active from 1983 to 1986 for the Seattle Breakers, Brandon Wheat Kings, Saskatoon Blades and Seattle Thunderbirds. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1984 in the fifth round as the 99th overall player of the Winnipeg Jets, for whom he never played, however. Instead played the defender from 1986 to 1988 for the team from the University of Alberta before it from 1988 to 1991 for the farm team of the Quebec Nordiques, the Halifax Citadels of the American Hockey League, ran aground, where he in 1989/90 season debut was in the National Hockey League for the Nordiques. Then the links Sagittarius spent two more years in the AHL with the Utica Devils, before he was issued on October 3, 1993 in exchange for Milan Tichy to the Florida Panthers.

Shortly before the end of the Trade Deadline in the 1994/95 season transfierten the Florida Panthers Severyn to their domestic rivals New York Islanders, for in the NHL, he stood in the following year and a half on the ice. He then spent one season each with the Colorado Avalanche, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Dallas Stars, where he won the Stanley Cup with Dallas in the season 1998 /99. Although he had not completed enough games to engrave his name on the Stanley Cup, he benefited from an exemption because it failed due to an injury much of the season. Following this successful season the Canadians left the Texans and moved to the neugegegründeten Munich Barons in the DEL, with whom he 2000 German champion in the season 1999 /. After another season in the DEL with the Krefeld Penguins, he finished his career in 2001 in Germany.
