Brentwood is a city in the U.S. state of California. The city is located in Contra Costa County in the eastern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, the area around the bay of San Francisco. The city has about 51,000 inhabitants and the city covers an area of 30.2 km ².

Economy

Major industries are still agriculture, but these lost due to the increasing urbanization importance of retail and leisure facilities. Heavy industry, however, is hard to find in Brentwood. To progressive urbanization resulted in the first decade of the 21st century in a rapidly growing urban population, mainly through immigration.

Demography

The city has experienced a rapid increase in population within ten years. Lived in 2000 still some 23,000 people in the city, provided the census of 2010 a population of 51,481. The reason for the increase in the very positive economic development in the region between 2000 and 2008 is considered. The population is mostly unchanged provided by White (2010 it was 55 percent), but the proportion of Latinos increased from ten to 26 per cent in the same period of time. African Americans and Asians are minorities and have a population of around six or seven percent. The number of households in Brentwood was the time of the 2010 Census at 16,494. For every 100 females were on average 94.2 men, while the median age was 35.6 years.
