Brett Guthrie

Brett Guthrie ( born February 18, 1964 in Florence, Alabama ) is an American politician. Since 2009 he represents the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Brett Guthrie graduated in 1987, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He then entered the United States Army, whose reserve he belonged until 2002 to 1990 officer. After his active military service, he studied until 1997 at Yale University. He then worked for the local Bowling Green Company Trace Die Cast, Inc., as Vice President he was.

Politically, Guthrie joined the Republican Party. Between 1999 and 2008 he sat in the Senate from Kentucky. In the congressional elections of 2008 he was in the second electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded Ron Lewis took on 3 January 2009, which had no longer a candidate. In 2010, he was confirmed. Guthrie's current term in Congress runs until January 3, 2013. During his first term he was a member of the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. In both committees, he was still present in three sub-committees. Since 2011 he was a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce as well as three sub-committees.

Brett Guthrie is married and lives privately in Bowling Green.
