Brett McLean

Brett McLean ( born August 14, 1978 in Comox, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Lugano of the National League A since January 2012.

Career

Brett McLean began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League in which he held until 1995 for the Tacoma Rockets and from 1995 to 1999 he was active for the Kelowna Rockets in 1994 after the franchise was relocated. At this time the center in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in the ninth round as a total 242 players in 1997 by the Dallas Stars. In September 1999, McLean was hired by the Calgary Flames as a free agent, but he played in the following season for their farm team, the Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League. After each one season with the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League and the Houston Aeros of the AHL, the Canadians was taken on July 23, 2002 by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League as a free agent contract.

After narrowly missing out in the 2003/04 season only four games of the regular season with the Blackhawks, McLean bridged the lockout in the NHL season 2004/ 05 in Malmo IF of the Swedish Elitserien. Following the resumption of gaming operations in the NHL McLean signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche, for which he was on the following two seasons on the ice. On 1 July 2007, the attacker of the Florida Panthers was obliged to give him a three year contract. In the 2007 /08 season he scored 37 points scorer, while he succeeded in the following season only 19 points. Therefore, the Panthers out of his current contract bought him out. In September 2009 he took part in a training camp of the Tampa Bay Lightning, but got no contract.

In October 2009 he was taken from the SC Bern of the National League A under contract and won with the Bernese in the season 2009/10 the Swiss Championship. On 1 July 2011, he signed a Zweiwegvertrag for the Chicago Black Hawks, but was used in the episode exclusively with the Rockford IceHogs. In January 2012, he returned to the NLA and was obliged by HC Lugano.
