Bretton Woods (New Hampshire)

Bretton Woods is the most south-eastern district of the city of Carroll, New Hampshire, USA. Carroll had in 2000 663 inhabitants and an area of 130 km ². While the place name Carroll is more of local interest, Bretton Woods was the Bretton Woods Conference, which took place from July 1 to 22, 1944 internationally. As a result of the conference, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund were launched.

The excursion is surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest and lies at the foot of Mount Washington is the highest peak in the area with 1917 m. On the summit of the mountain leads the Mount Washington Cog Railway, a 1866/69 opened cog railway.
