Bretzwil (Basel German: Brätzbel ) is a municipality in the district of Waldenburg in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Bretzwil situated on 628 m asl in the southern central part of the canton in a valley at the Seebach. It is surrounded on three sides by the Canton of Solothurn. Its neighboring municipalities are Lauwil and Reigoldswil and the Solothurn communities Seewen and Nunningen.

History

First mentioned in 1194, Braswilere first belonged to Talkirche Oberkirch in Nunningen and later moved to the Bishop of Basel. 1377 were the "masters of Brislach " the village as a fief, changed its name to " noble servants of Ramstein ", and sold in 1518 Bretzwil to the city of Basel. Since 1673 it is located in Waldenburg office.

Economy

Bretzwil has many agricultural and local businesses, as well as four restaurants and one village shop ( butcher ).

Traffic

The village is situated on the national road from Laufen to Waldenburg and to Grellingen. In addition, the community is accessible by two postal routes. So you can reach via Nunningen after running station or via Seewen to Grellingen SBB train station. Next you can about Reigoldswil, the Waldenburg railway station to reach the Waldenburgerbahn or go to Liestal.
