Brian Ackland-Snow

Brian Ackland - Snow ( born March 31, 1940 in London, † March 30, 2013 ) was a British art director and production designer who won an Oscar and a British Academy Film Award ( BAFTA Film Award ) for Best Production Design as well as an Emmy.

Life

Ackland -Snow began his career as an art director and production designer in 1962 in the film The Road to Hong Kong ( The Road to Hong Kong) and worked until 2002 at the scenic and facilities for over forty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1987 he won together with Gianni Quaranta, Brian Savegar and Elio Altramura the Oscar for Best Production Design in the film formed after the novel by EM Forster, Room with a View (1985 ) by James Ivory with Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter and Denholm Elliott in the lead roles. In addition, he received together with Quaranta in 1987 BAFTA Film Award for Best Production Design.

In 1995 he won with Rodger Maus, Josie MacAvin and Joseph Litsch also an Emmy for outstanding art direction in the first part of the CBS television series produced by Scarlett (1994 ) with Joanne Whalley, Timothy Dalton and Stephen Collins.

His children Andrew Ackland -Snow and Amanda Ackland -Snow appeared professionally in his footsteps and also work as an art director and production designer.
