Brian Devening

Brian Devening (* July 16, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Life

Devening was the 1983 national U16 hard court masters and studied between 1985 and 1989 at Southern Methodist University. In 1990 he became a professional tennis player, first played on satellite tournaments and the ATP Challenger Tour. On the ATP World Tour, he had notable success only as a doubles player. He stood in 1993 in the doubles final of the Swedish Open and Santiago. Other notable results were semi-finals in Prague and Tel Aviv in 1992, as well as in Mexico City and Rosmalen 1994. On the ATP Challenger Tour he won the 1994 doubles title of Singapore. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1990 with position 277 in single and in 1994 with position 77 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of the French Open 1993 by defeating Frederic FONTANG. In the doubles competition, he reached in 1994 on the side of Greg Van Emburgh the second round of Wimbledon by defeating Darren Cahill and John Fitzgerald.
