Brian Jones (aeronaut)

Brian Jones ( born March 27, 1947 in Bristol ) is a British aviation pioneer. He orbited in 1999, together with the Swiss Bertrand Piccard became the first man in a Rozière the earth.

He is patron of the Winds of Hope Foundation and brand ambassador of the watch manufacturer Breitling, who actively participated in the project circumnavigation of the globe. In this role, Jones joined the occasion of the Kiel Week on several occasions at the International Balloon Sail and presented a replica of the Orbiter 3

The first non-stop circumnavigation of the world in a balloon

On board the Breitling Orbiter 3, a satellite similarly equipped high-tech Rozierballons, began on 1 March 1999 at 8:05 GMT clock in the Swiss Château d'Oex, the first world circumnavigation without stopping and successfully ended on March 21, 1999 at 5:52 clock GMT in Dakhla (Egypt). The travel time for the distance of 45,755 kilometers was 19 days, 21 hours and 47 minutes. The capsule of the orbiter can be seen since 2000 in Smithshonian National Air and Space Museum.
