Brian Lewis (athlete)

Brian Lewis ( born December 5, 1974 in Sacramento, California) is an American track and field athlete and Olympic champion.

At the beginning of his career until the ninth grade, Brian Lewis played baseball (his father and his brother are professional baseball players). He began with the Athletics because he did not want to be coached by his father.

Lewis was a member of the American 4 x 100 - meter relay, which the 1997 World Championships did not finish successfully. At the 1998 Goodwill Games, Lewis was third in the 100 -meter run.

1999 Lewis American champion over 100 meters. He was then the third runners 4 x 100 - meter relay team that won gold at the World Championships in Seville.

At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000 Lewis was gold medalist with the 4 x 100 - meter relay also as the third runner. The other runners were: Jon Drummond, Bernard Williams and Maurice Greene.

His fastest time over 100 meters is 9.99 s (2002) and about 200 m 20.06 s ( 2000).
