Brian McClair

Brian John McClair ( born December 8, 1963 in Bellshill ) is a Scottish football player and football coach.

Career

Playing career

McClair began his career at Aston Villa, but where it was never used. In 1981 he moved to FC Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League. After forty games in Motherwell, he moved for the equivalent of around 150,000 € for Celtic Glasgow. During his time in Glasgow striker Scottish Footballer of the Year in 1987. Was after this individual success, he moved to Manchester United for a transfer fee of about € 1.2 million. McClair was with the Red Devils four times English champions, English Cup twice, once English League Cup winner and winner of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. International played the Scot thirty times for his country. He scored two goals for the Scots. The striker was also a member of the Scottish selection for the European Football Championship 1992 in Sweden. McClair was used three times and scored one goal against the CIS, but Scotland already retired from the group stage. After his career at United, he returned again in 1998 for eleven games to its parent club FC Motherwell back.

Coaching career

From December 1998 until the end of the season 1998/ 1999 he was an assistant coach at Blackburn Rovers since the beginning of the season 2006/ 2007 he is head of the youth academy of Manchester United.
