Brian McGrattan

Brian McGrattan ( born September 2, 1981 in Hamilton, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since February 2013 with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League under contract and currently for their farm team, the Abbotsford Heat, playing in the American Hockey League.

Career

Brian McGrattan began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League, where he from 1997 to 2002 for the Guelph Storm, Sudbury Wolves, Mississauga IceDogs, Owen Sound Attack, Oshawa Generals and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was active. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 in the fourth round as a total 104 players from the Los Angeles Kings, for which, however, he never played. On June 2, 2002 Grattan received as a free agent contract with the Ottawa Senators. For their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Binghamton Senators, he played in the next three years, before the attacker ran aground in 2005 and 2008 exclusively for the NHL team Ottawa.

In summer 2008, McGrattan moved to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he received a one-year contract. For Phoenix, however, the Canadians completed only five games before he voluntarily took part from December 13, 2008 at the detoxification program in the NHL and NHLPA. On 11 July 2009, he signed as a free agent contract with the Calgary Flames. In the 2009/10 season he came up with 34 appearances in the NHL, but had to pause for a long time because of health problems from playing. In September 2010 he was invited to the training camp of the Boston Bruins and received a month later, a one-year contract with the Bruins. A short time later he was sent to the farm team for the Providence Bruins. There, the attacker was set as the root force, before he was released on 27 February 2011 just before the trade deadline in a transfer business together with Sean Zimmerman in exchange for David Laliberte and Stefan Chaput to the Anaheim Ducks, the him in the farm team at the Syracuse Crunch inserting.

On February 28, 2013 it transferred the Nashville Predators in exchange for Joe Piškula to the Calgary Flames.
