Brian Rolston

Brian Lee Rolston ( born February 21, 1973 in Flint, Michigan ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who for the New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and the New York Islanders in 1995-2012 the National Hockey League played.

Career

Brian Rolston began his career in 1989 in the North American Hockey League with the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors, where he scored in 36 games in his second season 95 points and finally selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round at position eleven in the NHL Entry Draft 1991 been.

From the autumn of 1991 he went to the Lake Superior State University and played for their hockey team. In his first year he won with the team the national college championship of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In 1993 he was again in the final. There were several awards, including election to the NCAA All- Tournament team.

After two years he left college and moved to the Albany River Rats, the AHL farm team of the New Jersey Devils. In the season 1994/95 he was already one of the largest of the season for the Devils NHL squad and won the Stanley Cup with them.

In New Jersey, he has evolved over the years into a good two-way forward, who works alongside his offensive activities also on the defensive much. In November 1999, he was finally transferred to the Colorado Avalanche, but where he did not stay long. In March 2000, they sent him in a swap deal to the Boston Bruins.

In Boston, he was able to increase his points haul and took his leave for the U.S. ice hockey team, which took him to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games to Salt Lake City. There he won the silver medal with the team.

Until 2004, he played for Boston, then signed a contract but with the Minnesota Wild. But on his debut, he had to wait over a year since the 2004/05 season turned out because of the lockout. Direct his first season in Minnesota should be the best of his career with 79 points in 82 games.

During the 2006/07 season Rolston was invited to the NHL All-Star Game and was the 12:9 win the Western Conference of the best players with two goals and two assists. On July 28, 2011 it transferred the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Trent Hunter to the New York Islanders. This gave the attackers on 27 February 2012 together with Mike Mottau in exchange for Marc Cantin and Yannick Riendeau to the Boston Bruins from.

On April 30, 2013 Rolston gave after 17 seasons in the NHL officially announced end of his career.
