Brian Savegar

Brian Savegar ( born July 24, 1932 in Abergavenny, Wales, † 31 March 2007) was a British art director and production designer who won an Oscar for Best Production Design as well as an Emmy for outstanding art direction.

Life

Savegar studied post-school Art at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University. He began his career as an art director and production designer in 1981 at the film Babylon and worked until 2002 at the scenic base of over twenty films and television series with.

At the Academy Awards in 1987 he won together with Gianni Quaranta, Brian Ackland -Snow and Elio Altramura the Oscar for Best Production Design in the film formed after the novel by EM Forster, Room with a View (1985 ) by James Ivory with Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter and Denholm Elliott in the lead roles.

In 1991 he won with John C. Mula and Kevin Pfeiffer an Emmy for outstanding art direction in the episode The Mating Dance of the produced by the ABC between 1991 and 1994 whole-body dolls television series The Dinos on an idea by Jim Henson.

Savegar was well. Representing the professional group of Artdirectoren member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
