The Bridge of Don is a road bridge in the Scottish Unitary Authority Aberdeen. In 1967 the building was added to the Scottish lists of monuments in the B category. The bridge carries the A956 over the Don and connects it with the Aberdeen in the south suburb of Bridge of Don on the north bank of the Don.

The draft of the local architect John Smith and John Gibb was implemented after modifications by Thomas Telford and completed construction in 1827. In the following year the foundations of the piers sank and were reinforced by John and Alexander Gibb. The total cost of bridge construction and repair amounted to £ 17,000. The two-lane bridge originally had a width of 7.3 m. Between 1956 and 1959, was built parallel a second bridge their identical appearance, so that a total of 20.1 m wide building with four-lane route was created.

Description

The masonry viaduct spans the Don with five uniform segmental arches with an internal diameter of 22.9 m and a height of 7.6 m arrow. The Bridge of Don is equipped with icebreakers and partially worked the masonry as rustication.
