The song Bridge over Troubled Water is (English for bridge over troubled waters ) is a soft rock ballad of the American folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel. It was written by Paul Simon and sung largely solo by Art Garfunkel. On January 26, 1970, it was released as the album's title track and the same name as a single. Formation

The song was written by Paul Simon. He later said he remembered to have been surprised after seeing the melody and the words "Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down" ( German: " Like a bridge over troubled waters I will lay me down " ) had written. He had no idea where these words and the melody had come from. Originally Bridge over Troubled Water from two verses, but on the advice of producer Simon added the song to a third verse, which he wrote in the recording studio.
