Bridgwater

Bridgwater is a town in the South West of England and lies on the River Parrett with about 36,000 inhabitants. It is located in the county of Somerset and is part of the Sedgemoor District, whose capital it is.

Industry

During the Second World War was the nearby munitions factory located Royal Ordnance Factory ( ROF) Bridgwater is important. Here is the " Somerset Brick & Tile Museum ", a brickworks museum. Bridgwater is the headquarters of the beverage manufacturer GerberEmig Group.

Carnival

Early November ( on the first Friday and Saturday ) can be found here every year instead of a carnival, known as the largest celebration of its kind outside the carnival season. The carnival was created in the 18th century to celebrate the gunpowder plot ( one of the perpetrators, Robert Parsons, was connected to the city). Since 1880 the event has been organized every year. In 2007 it attracted 20,000 spectators. It is one of the biggest attractions of the county.
