Geography

The place is about 2 miles from West Bay, Bridport Harbour was originally situated on the Jurassic Coast, away. Bridport lies on the River Brit, in the rivers flow Asker and Simene in place.

History

The village originally lived by its fishing port and the manufacture of ropes. Today the town is a popular second home and thrives on tourism. The brewery Palmer 's Brewery (JC & RH Palmer Ltd ) is based in Bridport.

The people of Bridport Bridport Railway founded in 1854 and began in 1855 with the construction of a rail link, which was completed in 1857. The track but was then operated by the Great Western Railway, the range extended in 1884 to West Bay. The connection to the railroad reduced the importance of the port and meant that the church is transformed to the seaside resort. The partial route to West Bay was set in 1930, the railway station of Bridport was closed in 1975.
