Brie-Comte-Robert

Brie -Comte- Robert is a commune with 16,075 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to the district Melun and is the administrative center of the canton of Brie -Comte- Robert. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de l' Oree de la Brie.

Location

The suburb is located on the edge of the Plateau de la Brie, approximately 25 kilometers south-east of Paris and is encircled by the river Yerres south.

History

Brie -Comte- Robert is the historical capital of the region and county Brie. In the 12th century, the city owned by the Count Robert I de Dreux, was the brother of the French King Louis VII This fortified the city to impede a possible attack on Paris.

  • The castle Brie -Comte- Robert was built in the late 12th century.
