Brietzig

Brietzig is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It belongs to the Official Uecker -Randow - Tal, which is managed by the Government in Pasewalk.

Geography

Brietzig directly on the border to Brandenburg is located 7 km southwest of Pasewalk and 1 km west of the Uecker in a hilly area.

History

On 25 July 1952 Brietzig was removed along with other communities in the Brandenburg district Prenzlau and assigned to the circle Pasewalk in the district of Neubrandenburg.

  • The place is characterized by its ancient buildings.
  • The village church in Brietzig is a rectangular stone building from the 13th century. 1865 came the west tower of brick to the interior was renewed in 1730. She was for many years closed due to disrepair. After a Notsicherungsprogramm on the roof and the nave was begun in 2001 with extensive repair work.
