Geography
Geographical location
Brigachtal is located on the eastern edge of the Black Forest in the Valley of Brigach, a source of the Danube river, in 705-790 meters altitude between Villingen- Schwenningen and Donaueschingen. By the municipality and the Brigach runs along the Black Forest Railway.
Neighboring communities
The community is centrally located in the Schwarzwald- Baar-Kreis, bordered to the north and west of Villingen- Schwenningen, in the south of Donaueschingen and east to Bad Durrheim.
Community structure
The municipality consists of the three districts Brigachtal Kirchdorf, Klengen and over -cutting. The districts are spatially identical to the former municipalities of the same name and its official designation is made by the name itself to the two districts Kirchdorf and About dives include only the same villages and the district Klengen include the village Klengen, the hamlet of Beck Mayrhofen and the houses Ankenbuck. The 793 mentioned place Eiginhova was the original name of today's Kirchdorf, which due to its function as the central church village for the nearby towns of Urmark Klengen received its current name until around the year 1200.
History
Founded as the community within the framework of the administrative reform in Baden- Württemberg on 1 October 1974 from the previously independent municipalities Kirchdorf, Klengen and over -cutting. It was named by the Brigach where the municipality is located.

About diving
On the State Hofgut Ankenbuck a labor camp was built for young people in the time of the Weimar Republic. At the beginning of the Nazi period 1933-1934 there is an early concentration camp for political prisoners was set up, who were interned as opponents of Hitler there. Thither also the Mannheim German Communist Party member of parliament George Lechleiter, who was murdered in 1942, and the Freiburg SPD member of the Reichstag Stephan Meier, who in Mauthausen concentration camp lost his life came in 1944. The prisoners were used for field and road work.

Brigachtal maintains since 1984 partnerships to Essey- les-Nancy, close to Nancy in France.
Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
Brigachtal located on the Black Forest Railway from Konstanz to Offenburg and Karlsruhe. Since the implementation of the concept Ringzug 2003, the community is reconnected to an attractive public transport. The ring pull has since been serving the breakpoints Brigachtal Klengen and Brigachtal Kirchdorf each other and on weekdays at least hourly with Villingen -Schwenningen, Donaueschingen and Braeunlingen. The community belongs to the transport network Schwarzwald- Baar.
Education
For the youngest inhabitants are three municipal (Am Gaisberg, slip angle and Bondelbach ) and a Roman Catholic Kindergarten ( St. Martin). In Klengen is a primary school. Together with the communities of Bad Durrheim and Tuningen a Werkrealschule was founded. Other secondary schools (Realschule, Gymnasium) are located eg in Bad Durrheim, Donaueschingen Villingen -Schwenningen.
