Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, abbreviated BEST (in German about: energy supply and transport for large - Mumbai), is the urban transport and electricity companies in the Indian city of Mumbai. The state-owned organization that was founded in 1873, operates one of the largest urban bus fleet in India. Originally a streetcar company, an electricity supplier and 1926 evolved from the company in 1905 in addition a bus company. BEST is operated by the municipality as an independent company.

The bus company serves nearly the entire metropolitan area and is partially also worked on the city limits. In addition to the buses, BEST also operates a ferry service. The electricity department of the organization is one of the few electricity companies in India that generate an annual surplus. By 1995, the acronym BEST for Bombay Electricity Supply and Transport was ( Bombay energy supply and transport).
