Brilliance BS6

Brilliance BS6 (2004-2007)

The Giugiaro -designed in 2004 and revised by Pininfarina in 2007 Brilliance BS6 is a Chinese notchback sedan manufacturer Brilliance China Auto, which is mounted in Shenyang in the BMW Brilliance Automotive plant. Is driven the car from a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 90 kW ( 122 hp ) from Mitsubishi. A previously offered 2.4 - liter engine with 95 kW ( 129 hp ) was taken in the meantime from the offer. In China, a self-developed 1.8-liter turbo engine with 110 kW ( 150 hp ) is already in the offer; a diesel engine for the European market is currently in development.

On the European market the car was briefly offered in 2007 by a Belgian independent importer and sold in Germany under the name of Brilliance BS6.

In other markets,

In other markets, the model as Zhonghua M1, Zhonghua Grandeur, Brilliance M1 and Brilliance Galena is offered.

The Brilliance produced by the Bavarian Auto Manufacturing Company in Egypt Galena is only offered in a 2-liter engine from Mitsubishi Motors. This provides a power output of 95 kW and is offered with a 4- speed automatic transmission. The chassis of the vehicle comes from Porsche. The Galena was also mounted in a German BMW plant in a small number of pieces in the years 2005 and 2006 and should be distributed from there to European traders; due to negative press releases about poor crash test results, the initialization program was stopped again after a few months. Since then, all originate units offered in Europe from the Shenyang production.

BMW saw before, to contact the technical redesign in late 2008, a new Germany - production, but this idea was rejected. The redesign of BMW since 2009 finds its implementation in the Egyptian model and reached the Euro NCAP crash test a rating of three stars. The four-cylinder engine comes again from Mitsubishi. With its displacement of 2350 cc whose power is 100 kW.

Criticism

The first Euro NCAP he reached a very bad value with only one out of five stars. A second star was taken from him again, as in a side impact the biomechanical limits are exceeded. A revised model achieved three stars. Due to the lack of side airbags (including the revised model) the vehicle occupants are exposed in a lateral impact increased risk.

Another point of criticism was the ESP not available, which was not available for a surcharge. Many car magazines and also the ADAC faced the critical.
