Brilliant green is a triphenylmethane dyes belonging to the organic combination of green color. It is soluble in water and alcohol, which solutions have a green color. In the pH range from 0.0 to 2.6, the color changes from yellow to green.

Properties

Use

Brilliant green is used for the dyeing and printing of textiles, leather and paper as well as in printing inks, inks, ribbons and ballpoint pen inks.

In Eastern Europe and the countries of the former USSR, the alcoholic solution of brilliant green is used as an antiseptic. It is зелёнка as Latin Viridis nitentis spirituosa and as Russian [ seljonka ] known.
