Brinckheim

Brinckheim (German Brink home ) is a commune with 347 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Mulhouse, on the Canton Sierentz and is a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Sierentz.

Geography

Brinckheim located south of the Upper Rhine Valley, in the border triangle Germany -France- Switzerland, west of Beard 's home. The place is 10 km from Basel in the southeast and 10 km from the eastern border to Germany, ie from the River Rhine. The distance to the north-west Mulhouse is about 25 km.

Neighboring communities of Brinckheim are Uffheim in the north, Bart home in the east, in the southeast Blotzheim, Michel -le -Bas in the south and chapels in the west.

History

In 1194 the village first appears under the name Brunk marriages and belonged to the Habsburgs. Later it was a fief of the Austrian governors of Landser. In 1700, the village of the family Schenk von Castell, from 1732 belonged to the French Revolution of the d' Anthes family.

In the years 1939 and 1940, the villagers had to be evacuated in the country due to the Second World War. On November 19, 1944, succeeded to the tank unit of Lieutenant Jean de Loisy, to free Brinckheim.

  • Dated to 1597 Millstone stands at the entrance of the village.
  • Le beau moulin - the beautiful Mill - is a landmark of Brinckheim. The house was built in the first half of the 18th century and is a relic of architecture from this period.
  • The Presbytery ( Presbytery ), built in 1900, since 1994, serves as the town hall.

The standing instead of the present church chapel in 1705 by the Basel Auxiliary Bishop Jean Christophe home to Saint Francis of Assisi consecrated ( Brinckheim making it the only Upper Rhine community, St. Francis of Assisi considered as their patron saint ). From the chapel, only the choir has been preserved. After the tower threatened to collapse, the nave and the sacristy was enlarged to plans by the architect Jean -Baptiste Mülhauser Schacre in the 19th century.
