Brine (refrigerant)

In refrigeration brine (often called cold brine ) is used as a cooling fluid to prevent at the expected cooling water temperatures of less than 4 ° C ice formation on heat exchangers or in lines. The name Sole is because earlier salts were used as antifreeze. Because of the risk of corrosion, mainly glycols are used nowadays.

Properties

By the use of brine as a cooling liquid, the freezing point is lowered depending on the type of anti-freeze agent, and its concentration. Simultaneously, the heat transfer is deteriorated and the toughness of the cooling liquid increased, resulting in increased pump capacity for a row.
