The Briquet Griffon Vendeen is one of the FCI (No. 19, Gr. 6 sec 1.2) recognized dog breed from France.

Origin and History

The term " Briquet " indicates the French point to a medium-sized dog, the Vendeen to the origin from the department of Vendée. Before the First World War, he was bred from the Grand Griffon Vendéen. As a consequence of the following two wars, the breed was highly selected. From 1946 it went up again, today the Briquet is again quite numerous.

Description

The Briquet is up to 55cm tall in black with white spotting; Black with tan markings; black with tan markings; Fawn with white spotting; Fawn with black mantle and white spotting ( tricolor); Fawn with black overlay; sand color with black overlay with white spotting; sand color with black overlay. The coat of the dog is not overly long, sometimes shaggy and rough to the touch. The curtain is set below the eye line, soft, narrow and thin; occupied with long hair and tapering; turned inwards. The tail is set high, tight in the neck and is carried saber fashion.
