Bristol Biplane Type 'T'

The Bristol Biplane Type T was a further developed for the French pilots Maurice Tabuteau from the pattern Bristol Boxkite biplane. In addition to the machine for Tabuteau the British manufacturer British and Colonial Aeroplane Company built four additional copies that participated in 1911 at various air races. However, no success in these competitions was granted.

Development

The Bristol Biplane Type T decreed in contrast to Boxkite an enclosed cockpit, extended skids as rollover protection from the main landing gear and a more powerful Gnome engine. At least one machine was equipped with a 60 hp ( 45 kW) payable Renault engine equipped.

Use

Tabuteaus machine was used in the 1911 Circuit de l'Europe air race. The other four specimens also took part in the 1911 Circuit -of- Britain- competition.
