Brit Selby

Robert Briton " Brit " Selby ( born March 27, 1945 in Kingston, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things, for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.

Career

Selby was first as a junior for the Lakeshore Maroons, a unterklassige ice hockey team from the Canadian province of Ontario active before it ran aground Marlboros with gaming operations of the Ontario Hockey Association from 1960 to 1965 in the jersey of Toronto. These winger won both the 1964 J. Ross Robertson Cup as well as following the Memorial Cup. During the season 1964/65, the attacker was first appointed to the squad of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League, as a replacement for injured striker Ron Ellis. In his first NHL game Selby was entrusted with the task of preventing star striker Gordie Howe scores a goal. He solved this challenge and won in his second game of the Canadians succeeded against the New York Rangers the first hit, as Selby whose goalie Jacques Plante defeated. After Ellis had recovered from his injury, the links Sagittarius initially returned to the Ontario Hockey Association. In his rookie season, the season 1965/66, he established himself in the squad of the Toronto Maple Leafs and came in 61 NHL games of the regular season used, in which Selby recorded 27 points. As the best Neuprofi he was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy. In the finals he beat out Bert Marshall of the Detroit Red Wings.

After the subsequent season had not begun satisfactory, the offensive player was sent to the Vancouver Canucks. For this Selby played only 15 games since suffering a serious leg injury had the early season end result. When NHL Expansion Draft 1967, he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers. After two solid seasons in the dress of the Flyers followed in March 1969, a barter trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs, which included a total of five players and Selby brought back to Toronto. Another station in the National Hockey League were the St. Louis Blues, for which the Canadians ran aground 1970-1971.

After an engagement at the Kansas City Blues of the Central Hockey League in exchange in the World Hockey Association with the Quebec Nordiques followed. The 1972/73 season ended the links contactors in the jersey of the New England Whalers, with those of the Avco World Trophy winger won. This was followed by two seasons with the Toronto Toros, before Selby finished his active career.
