British Overseas Territories Act 2002

The British Overseas Territories Act 2002 (2002, Chapter 8) is a law that was adopted in 2002 by the British Parliament. It replaced part to the British Nationality Act 1981 and placed among other things, the renaming of the "British dependent territories " (English British Dependent Territories) in " British Overseas Territories " (English British Overseas Territories) as well as the redefinition of citizenship in the overseas firm.

The law was to all citizens of the British overseas territories - with the exception of the sovereign military bases of Akrotiri and Dhekelia in Cyprus - awarded on 21 May 2002, the full British citizenship. Previously, only the inhabitants of Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands had possessed full citizenship. Allow citizens of the overseas territories can apply for, among others, a British passport and travel visa to the UK and live and work there, and they can also join the British armed forces or the police.
