British Standards

British Standards is the new name for the British Standards Institution (BSI ) and is part of BSI Group. It is a standards body and develops standards (german standards ) which will be published under the names " BS XXXX " and under the name " BSi XXXX " (where XXXX is the appropriate standard). It is the British counterpart to the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).

The organization was founded in 1901 as the Engineering Standards Committee, headed by James Mansergh. Its original mission was the standardization of steel sections, to make British industry more efficient and competitive in the first place. Meanwhile, there are also procedures and safety standards.

Products and services that meet the prescribed according to BSI standards are provided by BSI Kitemark seal with the so-called (name due to the similarity with a paper kite, kite english = ).
