British thermal unit

The British thermal unit is a unit of energy. Your unit symbol is Btu or BTU, their symbols W. The Btu is not part of the SI system and is defined as the heat energy required to heat one British pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit. Da on the basis of the temperature-dependent heat capacity of this energy is different depending on the temperature of the water, there are several definitions of the BTU.

The International ( Steam) Table Btu is defined as 1055.05585262 Joule to the International ( Steam) Table calorie ( Calit ).

In the specification of heat pumps (especially air conditioning) cooling ( faulty) is expressed in Btu often when importing devices. What is meant here BTU per hour ( BTU / h).

For devices to be cooled data center in the emitted heat dissipation in BTU / h is specified.

The natural gas consumption is also sometimes in mmBTU ( million British thermal units, mm comes from a thousand thousand ) specified. 1 mmBTU corresponds to 26.4 cubic meters of gas, based on an energy content of 40 megajoules / m³.
