BRL-CAD

BRL - CAD is an open source computer program with which you can create predefined three-dimensional geometric shapes as a wireframe model. It was originally developed in the 80s the U.S. Military. The software has among other things an interactive geometry editor, raytracing and support.

For the data exchange BRL - CAD has many interfaces such as DXF, Euclid, IGES, JACK, STL and Tankill. In addition, you can export 3D models as VRML, Wavefront or X3D files.

The program whose source code today consists of over 750,000 lines is, until now available only in English, but runs on virtually all current operating systems. On 1 January 2005, the first open source version was released by BRL - CAD 7.0.2. Since July 2011, the version 7.20.4 is current.
